I grew up eating my mom's and auntie's Vietnamese cooking so I had high hopes but the noodles and spring rolls tasted flat and nothing like what we make at family gatherings. My guest was polite but kept wiping sweat from his forehead the whole time and I felt bad that this was his first impression of local food. We left early just to get back into the car with the ac running.
